The York clash we have been dreaming of is on!

Ombudsman heads a field of nine runners for the Juddmonte International at York on Wednesday but the Gosdens’ runner won’t have it all his own way as Aidan O’Brien’s Constitution River has also been declared for the contest.

Ombudsman remains unbeaten this season, impressive when landing the Prince of Wales’s Stakes from Minnie Hauk at Royal Ascot and it will take a hell of a performance to stop him in his tracks again. What a race we have in store.

Interesting Auction Series Race at Roscommon

Seven Nation Army, who has been buzzed up for an expensive 2yo contest at Doncaster in the coming weeks, will take his chance over the extended 7f at Roscommon (6.15). He absolutely bolted up in a nursery handicap at Galway, showing a blistering turn of foot going up the hill, and must have solid credentials here. It is a surprise that Dylan Browne McMonagle has opted to ride Green Dreamer instead, mind!

Watch out for a Tony Martin gamble

In the closing 1m4f handicap at Roscommon (8.15), Tony Martin’s Deralo Ir is worth monitoring. Runner-up two times in France in the spring of 2025, he is yet to figure in a couple of starts for his new yard this season but Martin has won this race twice in the last four years and he is in great form at present. Keep a close eye on him in the market.

Gina the top jockey at Chepstow this year

With five wins from 15 rides at the track this season, Gina Mangan’s two rides are worth following at Chepstow. Kokumi should build on her debut second in the 5f fillies’ maiden (2.45), while Some Nightmare has a solid each-way chance in the closing handicap (5.00).
