Tuesday’s racing: jockey and trainer to follow plus an each-way bet for the Irish Derby

Adrian Wall goes over all of the interesting stats and facts for Tuesday’s racing, including a jockey with a very appealing strike-rate at Beverley who has one ride on the card.

Jockey to follow at Beverley

A little bit under the radar, Cian Horgan may be worth following with his sole ride at Beverley on Tuesday as he has a 60% return at the track this year thus far, with three winners from five runners at the track.

Horgan will take the ride on Oasis Cover in the closing 5f apprentice handicap for trainer Ed Bethell. The daughter of Oasis Dream bounced right back to form when runner-up over 6f at Redcar on Saturday, and she was a big eyecatcher on the day too as she made up a lot of ground late on from being furthest away from the rail. A run to a similar level may suffice.

Trainer to follow at Ffos Las

Owen Burrows has a level stakes profit of £43.26 when having one runner at a flat meeting and his sole runner at Ffos Las is Lohoobb in the 6f handicap. This lad can race keenly but has every chance judged on his 7f second at Lingfield on his penultimate outing. Again, he was too free when disappointing at Sandown last time so the drop in trip may help him to settle.

Value play in the Irish Derby

James J Braddock is being aimed at the Irish Derby after his fine third in the Epsom equivalent and at odds of 8/1, he certainly offers some each-way value for punters. The Joseph O’Brien trained colt finished just over five lengths behind Christmas Day on that occasion and with the O’Brien yard in unbelievable form at present, it would be no surprise were he to take another giant leap forward. He’s a big boy and this won’t be as much of a stamina test.
