We take a look at all the nuggets of information needed for your betting needs on Tuesday’s day of horse racing!
Crystal Island (4.38 Ffos Las) is probably the most exciting runner of the day and Nicky Henderson’s sole runner on Tuesday will take his chance in the opening 2m4f novices’ hurdle at Ffos Las. He changed hands for £205,000 after winning his point in Ireland and impressed on rules and stable debut when scoring easily at Ascot in December. He appeals as a proper type for next season but should be up to the task here, for all there’s a couple of interesting rivals in the field too!
Harry Vigors could prove to be a bit of value for the conditional jockeys’ championship this year and he will again take the ride on the hugely progressive Yorkshire Glory in the 6f handicap at Pontefract. Seeking seven wins in a row, this horse rounded off a stunning winter when recording his ninth win of the season at Newcastle last month, and if he can translate his all-weather form to turf here, he will be very hard to beat once again. Vigors is excellent value for his 7lb claim.
Chester’s May Festival might be a little bit away yet but it may be worth saving the money up to follow Aidan O’Brien, who has a remarkable record at the track. Ballydoyle had four winners from six runners at the track last year and in the last five years, O’Brien has an incredible 63 per cent return with 15 winners from 24 runners, amassing a level stakes profit of +£27.54 at SP. Moore has ridden 21 winners from 40 rides there in that time too!
Fergal O’Brien’s In d’Or has been all the rage for the bet365 Gold Cup at Sandown in the last ten days or so. As high as 25/1 for the race only a week or so ago, he is now the 11/2 second favourite. He has placed course form to his name and ran a cracker at Ascot when last seen. He will be in the frame again at the very least one would think.
