Trainer who’s 7-19 in his career sends 1 runner to Southwell on Thursday

For a man who was working with Criquette Head at the same time as Treve was in the yard, before spending time with John Oxx, Christophe Clement and James Fanshawe, new trainer Kevin Philippart De Foy is still relatively unknown.

It won’t be long before the secret is out the bag, however. Since taking out a licence and having his first runner in November 2020, Foy had produced seven winners from just nineteen runners. That’s a remarkable 37% strike rate for a level stakes profit of £15.63. Add to that three more hitting the frame and Foy is one of the hottest trainers on the all-weather this winter.

He has just one runner on Thursday afternoon, that coming at Southwell. We have free horse racing tips for all of tomorrow’s cards, including Wincanton, Ffos Las and Down Royal in the afternoon as well as Chelmsford in the evening. Find out our thoughts on Foy’s sole runner below.

1.10 Southwell – Bombardier Handicap

Greek Kodiac is the runner in question. Beaten just three-quarters of a length on his last run here four weeks ago, he did the best of his work late in the piece over seven furlongs that day. He shapes as if there is more to come now that he steps back up slightly in trip, running over a mile now.

The form of his yard doesn’t do him any harm, as previously mentioned, producing three winners in a row. The next couple of months look the best time to catch Foy’s runners before too many punters catch on that he is far better than a normal rookie trainer. With the experience he has gained at a multitude of Group 1 winning yards, Foy looks set to take on his better known peers with confidence this year.
