Our tipsters' strongest bets for this meeting

Bet toteplacepot At totesport.com Nursery Handicap (Class 4)
Calling The Wind silk

Calling The Wind

CALLING THE WIND has made a big step forward with each start in a handicap, bred to appreciate this step up in trip to ten furlongs. Conditions look in his favour here so he looks the one to beat. Murray River isn’t exactly thrown in on handicap debut on what he has in the book but there should be more to come from him as another who should improve massively for the step up in trip.

Bet totequadpot At totesport.com Novice Stakes (Class 5)

Nicely bred colt who improved significantly first run to second, showing a blistering turn of foot to win at Redcar; penalised but has serious potential & should be winning once again.

Bet totetrifecta At totesport.com Handicap (Class 4)
Gallipoli silk

GALLIPOLI may not be the most consistent but he has twice been placed in Class 2 contests this year so this Class 4 should be well within his capabilities. The first of those came from five pounds higher so he is well treated on his best form to boot. Boy In The Bar is still well treated even after a rise for winning over course and distance last time out, he should be in the mix along with Field Gun as the least exposed in the contest.

Bet toteswinger At totesport.com Handicap (Class 6)
The Fiddler silk

The Fiddler

THE FIDDLER is yet to get his head in front but that’s a common problem with those in this contest. He has shown promise, including last time at Kempton when only beaten a couple of lengths trying this trip for the first time. That gives him less to prove than the majority in here. Alexis Carrington has plenty of stamina in her pedigree, shaping well on her handicap debut last time. She looks the main danger.

Bet totescoop6 At totesport.com Novice Stakes (Class 5)

Promising debut here before easy win next time, sister to 3-time Group 1 winner was well on top last time and can continue to improve.

Book Your Christmas Party At CCR Handicap (Class 6)
Imminent Approach silk

Imminent Approach

IMMINENT APPROACH should do better now back at a mile having looked a weak stayer at ten furlongs. She acts well on Polytrack and is only lightly raced so there should be more to come from her. Global Wonder is 0/15 but he has been second five times so another runner-up effort wouldn’t surprise.

Tips for Chelmsford Races

Chelmsford City racecourse is an All Weather track located in Great Leighs, Essex. Based only 50 miles from Newmarket, and boasting excellent prize money, it regularly attracts high quality runners.

Course: Chelmsford races around a oval of approximately a mile, and features two chutes to allow for racing at all distances from five furlongs to a mile. The sweeping bends and two furlong straights mean our tips look for galloping types.

Surface: Chelmsford is run on a Polytrack surface, on which nearly £500,000 has been spent in recent years upgrading the racing surface to ensure it is as fair as possible and to reduce the initial kickback issues hold up horses suffered.

Draw Bias: Thanks to the track layout, there is no real draw bias for our tips to consider.

Feature Races: Racing at Chelmsford is of a high standard for All Weather, with Mark Johnston and Godolphin regularly providing runners. While their feature race in terms of class is the Listed Queen Charlotte Fillies’ Stakes in june, their biggest day is at the start of September. The card in 2017 provided over £200,000 prize money, including the Chelmsford City Cup – an extremely competitive seven furlong Class 2 handicap.
