Trainer boasting a huge £50.83 profit at Chelmsford this year aims for 109-1 double

Thursday’s racing comes from five venues, with Naas, Yarmouth, Ayr and Pontefract filling out the afternoon racing. Chelmsford is the sole evening meeting and we’ll have horse racing tips for all five of the venues.

While trawling through the statistics for Thursday’s action, the fine record of Richard Hughes at Chelmsford stood out like a sore thumb. He’s sent 40 runners to Chelmsford this year, with ten of them returning to the winner’s enclosure. That equates to a £50.83 profit to a level stakes and he saddles two Thursday Chelmsford runners.

At the time of writing, the double pays 109-1, and you can find all our analysis below on their chances.

4.50 Chelmsford – tote Placepot Your First Bet Nursery Handicap

The opener is a five-furlong nursery and Majesty’s Pleasure is a fascinating contender. A daughter of Bungle Inthejungle, she’s raced on three occasions thus far, showing ability in a trio of maiden and novice races. Those races were won by some useful types and given her pedigree, she’s just the type to progress further now she goes handicapping.

An opening mark of 62 doesn’t look harsh on the face of it and the booking of David Egan is a likely sign of intent by connections. She’ll get a strong pace to aim at, which she needs based on how she’s shaped thus far, and she’s entitled to plenty of respect.

6.30 Chelmsford – tote.co.uk Now Never Beaten By SP Handicap

The outsider of the party, Top Breeze is far from a forlorn hope in this six-furlong handicap. His form has been patchy in 2021, but his sole victory came over course and distance back in June. He remains three pounds above that rating, but he’s placed off a two-pound higher mark in the past, so he’s not handicapped out of things.

Admittedly, he was well beaten over course and distance two starts ago, but his latest run at Windsor suggested he was still capable. He missed the break and was never involved, doing best of those who were held up off the pace, so there is cause for optimism. Back on the All-Weather, with Ray Dawson taking over, he can make his presence felt.
