Wathnan Racing have purchased a lot of horses in recent years and they love to have as many Royal Ascot runners as possible. They have a particularly strong team on Wednesday so clearly Day 2 is the big target. Retained rider James Doyle will have plenty of nice chances so we’ve combined his four best into a juicy Lucky 15. Take a look at our free tips page and we will provide selections in every race at Royal Ascot this week.
Zelaina made all the running to score impressively on debut at Nottingham earlier this month. Her rivals never looked like posing a challenge and she went on to score by just shy of three lengths. This daughter of Mehmas is popular in the betting and the yard has a good recent record in the race.
Fallen Angel was a Group 1 winner at two and went on to take the Irish 1000 Guineas in good style last season. Karl Burke’s filly was then second in the Matron Stakes and ran well in the Prix de l’Opera on Arc day. This is probably her easiest opportunity in a while and a big run is expected.
Map Of Stars remains relatively lightly raced and has progressed quickly through the ranks. Francis-Henri Graffard’s four-year-old was second to Arc favourite Sosie in the Prix Ganay last time and is entitled to be in the mix on that evidence.
Old Is Gold represents the Andrew Balding yard and is prominent in the betting. He won a conditions event at Beverley impressively on his second start, which prompted Wathnan to snap him up. This strong traveller also has a sharp turn of foot and those tools will serve him well here.
