Back Shagraan for Beverley Bullet success

Clive Cox has landed the Listed Beverley Bullet sprint (2.15) three times in the last five years and he now trains last year’s winner Shagraan, who was with Mick Appleby at the time. The in form handler should have Shagraan primed for this assignment off the back of a few below-par efforts this season. The application of first-time cheekpieces and a return to this track should all be in his favour. Granted, he will have a trickier job on from stall 11 but he could have the class to bolt up in this race again, like he did 12 months ago.

Irish trainer raids Goodwood

Jessica Harrington sends Apollo’s Comet across the Irish Sea to take her chance in the Group 3 Prestige Fillies’ Stakes (3.10) over 7f. She progressed nicely from her debut when narrowly winning at Leopardstown next time, with a couple of subsequent winners in behind. She’s well worth her place in the field, for all she will need to take another leap forward to win this.

The Emma Lavelle stat most don’t know about

Emma Lavelle’s profit to a £1 level stake when having one runner at a Flat meeting is a staggering £79.52 and her sole runner at Goodwood is Squire Danagher in the 2m handicap (4.20). The 6yo was poor over hurdles for Ben Pauling last year but got back on track back on the level and on yard debut when landing a 1m6f handicap at Sandown in June, the form of which has worked out nicely. All he can do is improve again given he is now with the yard long and he is certainly one with a leading chance here.
