3.05 Yarmouth

David O’Meara’s two-year-old Just Janet makes her racecourse debut in the British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Fillies’ Stakes over 5f. This daughter of Zoustar was available at 10-1 last night and consistent market support has seen her price collapse. At time of writing her best available price is 9-2 but she’s generally a 4-1 chance with one firm being as low as 10-3.

If she can inherit even a portion of her sire’s speed she should have the pace to be competitive here. Zoustar was a Group 1 winner over 6f in his native Australia where the sprinters really are rapid. Just Janet is the first foal of Coral Sea who was a winner for Charles Hills over 6f in her racing career. This pedigree indicates that Just Janet been bred for speed so this early season two-year-old race over the minimum trip could suit her.

Trainer David O’Meara has a strike-rate of 40 per cent with his two-year-old runners so far this season from a small pool. He has had two winners from five runners and he’ll be looking to improve this strike-rate to 50 per cent with this runner.
