Ripon regulars: four course specialists form Lucky 15 on Wednesday evening 🍀

Ripon Racecourse

There’s a competitive card on offer at Ripon on Wednesday evening. The track is slightly undulating with a sharp bend so it wouldn’t be to every horse’s liking. With that in mind, Liam Bramall has picked out four horses with proven course records to consider putting into a Lucky 15. 5.35 Ripon

May Punch (3-1, Paddy Power) hasn’t been out of the first three in her four career starts here. She got off the mark over course and distance last time out. Consequently, she appears here under a 6lb penalty despite the fact that she’s due to go up 7lb. She has run good races here before off marks as high as 69 so if she can overcome that extra burden, it’ll be at Ripon. A big run is expected.

6.05 Ripon

Bay Breeze (4-1, bet365) was disappointing on his last run but was a five-length winner over course and distance three starts ago. That was his only start here to date which gives him a 100 per cent strike-rate. The handicapper has dropped him 2lb for that effort but he races here off his old mark. Despite that fact, he should run a massive race now that he’s been dropped in grade.

6.35 Ripon

Fortamour (9-2, bet365) is seeking a hat-trick having won his last two starts. His record at Ripon is phenomenal and he’s hard to oppose despite being rated 10lb higher than when his winning sequence began. In five starts here he has won three and placed twice. On this evidence it’s very difficult to envisage him not being bang in there at the end of the race.

8.10 Ripon

Not On Your Nellie (9-2, William Hill) hasn’t won since April last year but she’s slipping down the handicap whilst still running some good races. She has a win and a second to her name in three starts here and the latter came last time out. Having been beaten less than a length by Raasel off 2lb higher last season, one would expect her to run a huge race here.
