Nigel Twiston-Davies Stable Update 9th March 2018

Nigel Twiston-Davies Weekly Column

Despite being as chatty and helpful as always, I could tell that Nigel was getting excited about Cheltenham but then again, why should he be any different to the rest of us! After asking all the obvious questions I was told that all was well with his Festival challengers though obviously, we will be calling an already stressed Nigel every day from Tuesday onwards next week for last minute updates and his thoughts. As things stand all is going according to plan and Nigel is looking forward to Cheltenham as are we all.

Nigel’s Charity Bet

As always, we’ve given Nigel a £25 charity bet to place on a horse of his choice – and this week it will be on……

Mr Antolini  Each Way  2.25pm Sandown Saturday

“Of course this will be a difficult race to win (The Imperial Cup) as it always is, but I have my fellow as fit and well as I can get him and he doesn’t look too badly handicapped to me on his better form. I have only had him at the yard since late December and am still learning about what suits him and what doesn’t at home, but he is working well and although second to Azzerti last time he found that trip a bit too far, and a fast run two miles this afternoon should be just about perfect.”

If Mr Antolini wins or places, we’ll donate the winnings to the Injured Jockeys Fund!

Saturday Selection:

Jabulani Each Way 1.50pm Sandown

I do like him a lot and feel there he may have more to offer and hopefully that can come to fruition in this very valuable contest. His recent homework suggests he is getting back to the sort of from that saw him win at Lingfield off three pounds higher, and if that is the case then he is clearly well handicapped this afternoon.

Sunday Selection:

Bristol De Mai 3.45pm Kelso

“Not so much a betting proposition with just the three runners but I am thinking we can pick up a decent bit of prize money by travelling north for the race, and it will put him spot on before he heads to Aintree next month for his next main target in the Bowl. Three runner races do throw up more than their fair share of surprises, but he is in great form at home and this ought to be little more than a stroll in the park with a stone in hand on his rivals according to the official ratings.”
