Nigel Twiston-Davies – My Runners Sunday 9th April 2017

In the calm after the storm of Aintree and the Grand National meeting, life goes on each and every day in the life of a trainer and Nigel has a few runners at Ffos Las this afternoon to talk about to round off an exciting and memorable weekend with a superb Grand National fourth from Blaklion.

Nigel’s Charity Bet

As always, we’ve given Nigel a £50 charity bet to place on a horse of his choice – and this weekend the money will be on…..

Ffos Las 5.30pm Sunday – Jabulani to win at 11/2.

“Plenty of decent sorts engaged here and there is talk that the Paul Nicholls horse is above average, but we have the form in the book with a course and distance win three weeks ago and although he has give weight away all round, he has improved at home for his first run and ought to go well again this afternoon with Sam in the saddle.”

If Jabulani scores, we’ll donate the winnings to the Injured Jockeys Fund!

Sunday’s Other Runners:

Ballyarthur 2.15pm Ffos Las

“I really think a lot of my seven-year-old and although he has to give weight away he seems sure to run a huge race, possibly a winning one. It actually looks a stronger race than I expected for a Sunday, but he deserves his chance and really hasn’t done a lot wrong all season with four top four finishes and a win from just the six starts.”

Horseguardsparade 3.20pm Ffos Las

“Selling Chases are a rarity these days and this not the best contest you will ever see whatever the day of the week or the track. This is his debut over fences but he jumps well enough at home to suggest he can do well off of joint bottom weight, and he could well win this afternoon if he jumps as well on the track  as he does on the schooling grounds.”

Brownville  3.55pm Ffos Las

“An ultra consistent staying chaser but that consistency has seen the handicapper keep close tabs on him and he could do with a few pounds less. That said it isn’t as strong a renewal as it looked earlier in the week, and I am quietly confident he can place at the very least.”

Verygoodverygood 4.30pm Ffos Las

“Ran well enough in second here over two and a half miles when the ground was soft enough for him and he will be happier on the better surface forecast here. Im pretty sure the trio is not a problem and he has finished third over three miles before despite the odd error and he could run in to a place off his current mark.”
