Future Classic winner in Killarney’s opening maiden?

The opening 1m maiden at Killarney (5.30) has been won by Epsom Derby winner Anthony Van Dyck and Irish Derby winner Benvenuto Cellini and it looks a hot renewal this year too. Aidan O’Brien’s Oklahoma is likely to go off a warm order after finishing runner-up to a stablemate at the Curragh on debut and he’s certainly one to keep in mind for the future.

Paddy Twomey the danger man at Killarney

Twomey boasted a 36 per cent return at the track last year and his two newcomers are worth noting in the market. In the opener, City Of Dubai will take on the aforementioned Oklahoma. He cost €260,000 as a yearling and the son of Mehmas is a half-brother to smart winners Bear Story and Slieve Bearnagh. He holds a Group 1 entry.

In the 1m3f fillies’ maiden (7.30), Sea Of The Celts is interesting. She was a very expensive purchase and holds an entry in the Irish Oaks. It would be no shock to see her go off a strong favourite for the contest.

Four is the magic number at Ayr

The last five winners of the 1m5f handicap at Ayr (5.05) were 4yos and there’s only one 4yo in the field! Simply Ruby bolted up at Ffos Las last summer before a good third at Bath next time. She hasn’t been seen since disappointing at Goodwood nine months ago and has changed yards but is worth a market check.
