Matt Newman’s outsiders Lucky 15 could pay £146,000 on Thursday

3.40 Taunton – Thatchers Cider Handicap Hurdle

A big field with five places to aim at so it’s worth taking a little chance on Cheng Gong. Solid enough at a low level on the flat, there has been promise from him on his starts while qualifying for this opening handicap mark. He needs to brush up on his jumping if he is to fulfil his potential in this sphere but a try on drying ground may find him able to lift his feet rather easier.

4.05 Clonmel – Cloneen Handicap Chase

This track brings out the best in Trumps Ace. She has won twice in three chase starts at Clonmel, no chance in the other given the company she ran in, performing as well as her rating entitled her to. She is five pounds above the most recent of those but an RPR of 114 both then and on her run earlier in the season, this should still prove to be a workable level.

4.12 Taunton – Central Motors Chard Handicap Hurdle

Master Tradesman is a tough horse to predict. Fresh does seem the time to catch him however, winner of a point off a break and his best run last season when second coming off the back of a rest. Cheekpieces he has been in of late are dispensed with and with drying ground a big plus, he can hit the frame at a decent price.

4.30 Southwell – Read Katie Walsh On Betway Insider Handicap

Lightly raced for his age, Royal Born has been seen just a single time on this Fibresand surface. He got himself detached before making up lots of ground late in the piece over a mile and a half. That has been the filling in a Polytrack sandwich of poor runs but he’s worth another chance on this surface over what could prove a more suitable trip.
