The week comes to a close with four meetings, all of which are jumps cards! The National Hunt season has truly begun and Wincanton, Galway, Wexford and Aintree are the venues on the docket. We’ll have horse racing tips for all four, including a NAP of the Day and accumulator tips.

One jockey who will relishing a return to Aintree on Sunday is the reigning champion, Harry Skelton. Riding on 101 occasions, he’s enjoyed 20 winners, equating to a huge level stakes profit of £84.50. 2.25 Aintree – Jewson Tool Hire Veterans’ Handicap Chase

The first of his big chances is the Captain Chaos, a bold front-runner who made all the running at Ascot two starts ago off a three-pound lower rating. He ran to a similar standard when fourth at Carlisle on his most recent start, where he wasn’t seen to best effect at such a stiff track.

He reappears at a venue that will play to his strengths and Skelton is likely to give him an attacking ride to try and steal the race. Although a prior run would have been ideal, he has won fresh in the past and has to be afforded maximum respect.

3.00 Aintree – Jewson Monet’s Garden Old Roan Limited Handicap Chase

Perhaps the biggest chance of the day for Skelton, Allmankind bids to make a successful transition from novice company. He was hugely productive last season, winning the Grade 1 Henry VIII at Sandown in early December. That was followed up by a pair of Grade 2 victories at Warwick and Ayr, with a fair fourth in the Arkle in between.

He reappeared over hurdles at Chepstow earlier this month and given his poor record fresh, the fact he finished a rallying third was hugely positive. He remains totally unexposed over the larger obstacles and returned to a sharp track, with fitness under his belt, he should be very tough to beat.

3.35 Aintree – Jewson Birkenhead, Price Street Maiden Hurdle

There isn’t much form to go off in this maiden hurdle, but Lakota Warrior is a fascinating contender in familiar colours. He finished second in his sole point run at Lingstown back in 2020, shaping well on bumper debut at Warwick in December of the same year.

He couldn’t build on that at Kelso subsequently, which was disappointing, but he’s a scopey sort and he should really improve for an obstacle. Given the summer to grow and mature, he should be a different proposition here for top connections.

4.10 Aintree – Jewson Wallasey Handicap Hurdle

A consistent performer last season, Riggs scored at Uttoxeter before placing in three subsequent outings. That includes a clear second in a Grade 3 handicap at Sandown, where he made an impressive move through the pack to chase the leader between two and three out, before tiring late on.

That was still a good effort in such a competitive race and he was still tanking along when falling at Uttoxeter on his most recent start. He remains totally unexposed as he moves into this season and incoming rain certainly improves his chances. Dropped back to 2m 4f, he’s an obvious player.
