Jockey with 7/15 record in this grade hits Goodwood on Sunday

Lightning Spear winning at Goodwood Racecourse

One of the most valuable selling races of the season is at Goodwood on Sunday. To a lot of punters, they would not be a preferred betting medium but Oisin Muphy has been the man to follow in them in recent years. Since the start of 2019, Murphy has had 15 rides in sellers producing seven wins. That’s a strike rate of 47%!

There are just three meetings on Sunday, Beverley and Yarmouth the other pair for our horse racing tips. There is a busy Bank Holiday on Monday with seven meetings to make up for it though where we’ll have tips for every card.

3.25 Goodwood – tote.co.uk Selling Stakes

Aggagio is the horse in question, representing the yard of Sophie Leech. Murphy is yet to have a ride for Leech so it is interesting that the first one that he gets the leg up on is in a seller. The Leech yard have a solid enough record in sellers themselves. A +£29.50 level stakes profit in this grade so far in her career suggests that these are races that Leech targets.

There are just four runners in this valuable seller with a first prize of more than £8,000. Aggagio has a solid chance at the weights, running better than the final position would suggest on his two runs on the flat so far for this yard. A Class 3 race was beyond him at Haydock but he was only beaten three and a half lengths then a dawdle of a gallop was no help last time.

He has shown a bit of temperament which is not ideal, reluctant to enter the stalls on both those runs but once he has got going, he has been fine. The slight step up in trip shouldn’t be an issue for him and having handled the undulations at Chepstow, this quirky track should also not bother him.
