Jockey with 100 per cent strike-rate at Brighton this year has two Friday rides 💯

Dane O’Neill doesn’t venture to the south coast track all too often but when he does he means business. He has had just one ride there in 2022, and that horse won at odds of 12-1.

In the last five years, O’Neill has had just 16 rides at Brighton, and six of them have won. That is an extremely impressive 38 per cent return for followers. He has two rides at Brighton on Friday and both are very intriguing.

1.00 Brighton

The first of Dane O’Neill’s rides comes in the opening Cazoo Maiden Stakes, where he will ride a newcomer for in form trainer Richard Hannon. Zabbie is a two-year-old Poet’s Word filly, and her dam was a winner over 5f so there is plenty of speed in the pedigree. If she is ready to go at the first time of asking, she could be a class apart.

3.20 Brighton

Without doubt likely to be O’Neill’s banker of the day in his own head, Torbellino boasts very strong claims in this 0-65 Class 6 handicap. With only three rivals to beat, and coming off the back of three second-place finishes on the trot, this mare will be looking to break her losing run. She has only won once in 32 starts on the level, but was done at 1.03 in running at Lingfield last time and compensation should await backers. Recent course winner Junoeqsue is likely to be the main danger in the race.
