Jockey boasting a £31.03 profit at Uttoxeter in 2021 travels North for one ride

Uttoxeter Racecourse

There’s plenty of racing to keep us occupied on Sunday, with the Curragh, Uttoxeter, Cartmel and Windsor all hosting action. The Curragh is undoubtedly the feature card, with the Group 1 Pretty Polly the headline act.

That being said, Uttoxeter also hosts a fantastic card. The Summer Cup, a Listed handicap, is the feature race and it’s attracted a smart field. It also sees one Brendan Powell head North for just one ride and he’s loved his trips there in 2021. He’s won on five of his 13 mounts, with that equating to a £31.03 profit to level stakes.

The fact he has just one ride for a top stable makes his mount of strong interest on Sunday. Find out all the details about his horse below, including our analysis of his chance!

His sole ride is Storm Home in the feature contest, a twelve-race maiden over fences. Although he’s yet to score in this sphere, he’s gone close on numerous occasions, including two near-misses in 2021.

In fact, he’s finished second on three of his last four starts, including a head defeat at Taunton. That defeat was particularly painful, as he would have surely won if he hadn’t made a shuddering error at the last. He’s clearly a cliff horse, but his day is unlikely to be far away on recent evidence.

Today’s extra yardage is certainly a positive to his chances and he’s unexposed over it. He raced over 3m 2f at Newton Abbot back in September, finishing a good third in a competitive race over hurdles.

Overall, Powell has been a jockey to follow in 2021. He’s had 12 winners from a total 60 rides and a £40.87 profit from level stakes is a massive return. If any jockey can get this tricky customer home, it’s him, and there’s plenty of reasons to be positive on the chances of Storm Home, who really does deserve his day over fences.
