The up and coming sensation has enjoyed a big year at Wolverhampton in 2021, boasting a 23% strike-rate from 100 runners. 2.50 Wolverhampton – Betway Handicap

His first chance is Apex King, who has certainly been round the houses. He’s been trained by six different trainers and he’s currently having his second stint with David Loughnane, returning to winning ways at Lingfield when last seen in March. He quickened up smartly that day, travelling up powerfully before quickening away late on.

The second and third have both won since and after a 247-day break, he returns off just six pounds higher. He’s run off much higher marks in the past and he’s finished close-up in both his previous handicap starts at Wolverhampton. He won on return from a break at Lingfield last year and there’s plenty to like about his chances.

3.20 Wolverhampton – Betway Maiden Stakes

His second runner comes in the form of Screaming Petrus, a newcomer in the now familiar purple colours of Amo Racing. He cost a whopping 220,000euros as a yearling and is a very well-bred son of Kingman. His Dam was a French two-year-old winner, including at Listed level, and he’s bred to be a smart mile horse and beyond.

Loughnane is more than capable of readying them and perhaps even more interestingly, he boasts a £74.67 profit with this three-year-old All-Weather runners in the last five years. If this horse follows that trend, he could easily play a leading role on debut, though market signals should be watched closely.
