Irish trainer makes a 684-mile round trip to Musselburgh on Sunday with 1 runner

Caspian Prince wins the Scottish Sprint Cup

An incredibly busy Sunday in prospect. The ITV Racing cameras do triple duty at Haydock, Musselburgh and the Curragh with the final Sunday Series meeting at the first named. All seven races there will be on the channel with Bath and Chelmsford also in action for our horse racing tips.

One of the most interesting angles comes at the Scottish track. An Irish raider for a yard who are 4/12 with their runners outside of Ireland in the last five years for a level stakes profit of £13.75. It’s a 684-mile round trip from the yard of Gerard O’Leary to Musselburgh but the winner of a valuable handicap would make it worthwhile.

3.02 Musselburgh – British EBF Scottish Premier Fillies’ Handicap

Pretty Rebel is an interesting filly, showing smart form last time out over five and a half furlongs but won a seven furlong handicap before that. She produced that success with one of the more remarkable wins of the season, suggesting that a sharp mile won’t be any issue for her stamina.

She was awkward leaving the stalls in that seven furlong handicap, giving the field almost a ten length head start. It was incredible that she got anywhere close to the front half of the field, let alone being able to get her head in front from that position.

Ten pounds higher, she showed that this mark is going to be well within her capabilities in that sprint last time out and she is a rare raider on these shores for this yard as previously mentioned. She ticks an awful lot of boxes in what could prove to be a superb piece of placing.
