A Guide To The Weekend’s Racing 26/03/2015

Fancy watching some live racing this weekend? Make sure you don’t miss a trick with our guide to the best up-coming meetings of the next three days.

Friday

There are currently five meetings scheduled for Friday, with four coming from England and the fifth being held in Dundalk, Ireland. This Dundalk evening event is comprised of seven flat races whilst the Wolverhampton (all-weather) evening meeting is made up of six races on the flat. There’s another flat meeting over at Lingfield (polytrack), that event kicking off the day’s racing at 14:00, whilst there’s a series of chases and hurdles and bumpers at both Newcastle and Wetherby.

The best quality races of the day are both at Newcastle, there being a class three chase at 15:40 and a class three hurdle just 35 minutes later. The former at a distance of 20f includes Sue Smith’s hat-trick seeking De Vous A Moi, evergreen bridesmaid Trust Thomas and course and distance winner Montoya’s Son who’s looking for his fifth straight victory for Keith Dalgleish.

In the 2m hurdle, Keith Reveley is two-handed with seven-year-old Sedgefield winner Ivan Boru and the versatile three-time class three winner Robbie. They line up against two-time course and distance winner Dark Dune and Avidity for James Ewert.

Saturday

Whether you are heading down to a course on Saturday or just sat in front of your television, you will be in for a treat with a packed day of racing action. Our Channel 4 racing tips will be celebrating the first day of the flat racing season by broadcasting the Lincoln Handicap and you can get our Lincoln Handicap Betting tips here! (as well as a number of other flat races from Doncaster and Kempton) Following this UK broadcast, they will then present coverage of the Dubai World Cup live from Meydan.

William Haggas’ Mange All is still the favourite for the Doncaster Lincoln (15:45) following the draw to see which horse will emerge from which stall. The four-year-old will be seen from stall seven. Otherwise, second favourite Gm Hopkins has been given stall 21 and another market favourite Zarwaan will break from stall 18.

Kentucky Derby winner California Chrome is leading the way in the betting for the Dubai World Cup (17:00) but will have to fend off a couple of plucky Japanese entries (Epiphaneia and Hokko Tarumae) and two runners from the stable of six-time $10 million race winner Saeed bin Suroor. He saddles reigning champion African Story and course and distance victor Prince Bishop.

Elsewhere, there’s seven races on Chelmsford City‘s polytrack and a series of hurdles and chases at Stratford and Uttoxeter. There’s also a jumps meeting at Navan in Ireland.

Sunday

There’s a high standard of racing again on Sunday with Curragh‘s Irish Lincolnshire meeting being complemented by Limerick‘s jumps event in Ireland and Doncaster‘s seven flat races an alternative to Ascot’s chasing and hurdling affair.

The three-year-old Footstepsinthesand-sired Onenightidreamed is the Ante Post favourite for the 1m Irish Lincolnshire (16:55) but faces stiff competition in the shape of reigning champion Stuccodor and Ger Lyons’ grey Unsinkable.

The pick of the races in Blighty is Ascot’s 17f class two Waitrose Novices’ Handicap Chase (15:40) that could see the likes of Melodic Rendezvous, Traffic Fluide and Turn Over Sivola all turn out.
