8.00 Wolverhampton

On bare recent form, it looks close to impossible that ELUSIVE ARTIST could turn the tide with the re-opposing Dembe. Tony Carroll’s gelding finished 11 lengths behind that recent winner at Kempton this month under Marco Ghiani. He hasn’t shown any recent form up to that point either that could suggest his winning turn was very close.

However, we have to factor in the yard. Carroll is one of the shrewdest trainers in the game and he is not adverse to pulling off a few gambles over the course of the season. We also have to factor in the fact that Elusive Artist will receive 17lb off the favourite tonight but only received 5lb off him when they met last week. That could make a huge impact and difference.

Luke Morris takes over in the saddle, a very tenacious strong rider and no better man for a well backed horse on the all-weather. He carries just 8st 3lb here so the plate will be very light indeed. If Carroll can get this horse back to somewhere near his best, then he could be chucked in at the weights.
