Friday ITV Outsiders: Appleby & Buick overlooked with 25-1 shot in the feature 🙏

Day 3 of York‘s Ebor festival is an action-packed day with plenty of quality on offer. The big race of the day is the Group 1 Nunthorpe Stakes over 5f. We’ve got an attractively-priced outsider for the main event and three other races televised live on ITV for you to consider. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

1.50 York

The first race of the day is a competitive handicap and Farhan (16-1, bet365) has an excellent each-way chance. John Butler’s colt won the November Handicap at the end of last season. That victory came off a 6lb lower mark so it would require a career-best to win here. An improved performance isn’t out of the question however as he has scope to progress as a four-year-old.

3.00 York

Catch The Paddy (20-1, William Hill) is a progressive two-year-old that has won his last two. This includes a course and distance victory last time out. He still has 10lb to find with Royal Scotsman but it’s highly likely that there’s plenty of improvement to come. Kevin Ryan targets this meeting with his juveniles and this one shouldn’t be discounted.

3.35 York

Lazuli (25-1, bet365) will be much more suited by the track here than the very sharp 5f at Goodwood. Ran well in the King George Stakes there nonetheless when a staying-on fourth. I’m convinced he has a big race in him and a huge run is expected.

4.10 York

The Flying Ginger (25-1, bet365) deserves this price on the evidence of her runs so far this campaign. What makes her appealing is the fact that she won this race last year off a mark of 86 and is currently rated 4lb lower. She beat subsequent Group 2 and Listed winners that day which makes the form very strong. If the return to the Ebor Festival can inspire a return to form, she shouldn’t be far away.
