European Sunday Action, Including Group 1 Racing! + 20/1 Acca

After a fantastic day of action on Saturday, namely at Ayr and Newbury, attentions now turn to across the channel, as Germany and Italy host some group action for us to sink our teeth into! With British interest in Cologne and hugely competitive racing at San Siro, you can find all the action previewed below! For all our British horse racing tips, click the link!

Premio Elena e Sergio Cumani (3.50pm Group 3)

This mile Group 3 can go the way of STYLE PRESA for Rod Collet and Cristian Demuro. She was a Listed winner over course and distance back in June and ran to a similar level when fourth in a competitive Group 3 contest at Deauville in July. She can be forgiven her latest start at the same venue and there is no doubt that this is easier than the competition she’s faced lately.

Her main rival in the market is Marco Gasparini’s Intense Battle, who was behind the selection when sixth in a course and distance Listed race back in June. She still has time on her side, but she has plenty of work to do to reverse the bare form on paper.

57th Preis von Europa (4.10pm, Group 1)

The feature race of the European action, the Preis von Europa is a Group 1 contest over the twelve-furlong distance. There are three Britsh runners making the trip over to Cologne, and the one with the best chance looks to be Saeed Bin Suroor’s BEST SOLUTION. He landed the Group 1 Caulfield Cup while in Australia last year and was having his first run for nearly a year when down the field at Kempton in Group 3 company.

That run can be upgraded given that he was blocked at a crucial stage and it should have blown away the cobwebs. Now that he’s race fit for in-form bin Suroor yard, he can once again claim Group 1 honours. Aspetar goes for Roger Charlton and Jason Watson, a Group 2 winner at Chantilly back in June. He wasn’t so good when upped to Group 1 company at Saint-cloud last time and needs to settle better to be winning at this level.

The gutsy Communique landed Group 2 honours at Newmarket back in July and ran huge when second in a Hoppegarten Group 1 on a subsequent start. He’d have each-way claims on that form, but he was last of nine at Baden-Baden when last seen with no real excuses, which has to be a worry. The best of the home team looks to be Andreas Wohler’s Laccario, who was a Group 1 winner at Hamburg two starts back. Only third at Baden-Baden when last seen, however, and has to reverse form with Donjah, who reopposes.

Premio Federico Tesio (4.25pm, Group 2)

Winning a Group 2 contest at Hoopengarten in June, AKRIBIE made all in brilliant fashion. She’s faced two very tough tasks since, not disgraced in Group 1 company prior to another hapless task against the boys in the Grosser Preis von Baden. She drops in grade here, which is a massive positive, and her prior form at this level makes her the one to beat for Markus Klug.

Chestnut Honey should give her the most to think about, a No Nay Never colt who arrives on a hat-trick, winning a Listed race over twelve furlongs prior to a cozy ten-furlong success at the same venue/level. She’s unexposed and could easily have more offer, which makes her a big player for win purposes.
