Matt first went racing in February 1982 at just 3 months old. Attracted to the sport by Desert Orchid in the late 80's, a media degree started a path to horse racing journalism. Owner of many horses and greyhounds through the years, the latter has led to the formation of the myracing greyhound syndicate, a Greyhound Writers Association membership as well as appearances on Racing Post Greyhound TV.
Another trip to Crayford on Saturday night live on RPGTV for the myracing, com greyhound syndicate. Our greyhound tips will be online by 6pm tonight. Let’s take a look at the challenge that’s facing Droopys Nuka tonight.
Vigorous Shannon – Veteran has slipped down the grades quickly having been A1 only three months ago. She has plenty of mid 3.50 sectionals to her credit so despite it being a while since she showed her very best, the grader takes a chance downgrading her.
Pretend Times – Looks unlikely to lead up on the rails. Won an A5 last time out but with a career best of just 23.95, she doesn’t look one of the more likely contenders in this one.
Great Run – Has one flashy trial time on her card when hitting the lids. The majority of her form in Ireland and in limited action here is of a reasonable enough quality to think this is her grade but she needs to control the inside on the run to the bend.
O Leary Tune – Very inconsistent at the lids but he has a smash break in his locker. Struggled a little at this grade so far, so is going to have to take another step forward to land this.
Droopys Nuka – Her record in this grade doesn’t make for happy reading, taking it to 0/8 at the start of the month. 5 has never been her trap although her trapping boots have gone missing from stripes of late as well. Needs to step up on her recent form.
Blundel Sugar – Not beaten far the last time she was in this grade 2 runs ago. She is a regular in the late 3.50’s on the run to the line first time so with Nuka in 5, she has a solid chance of hitting the bend close to the lead. Stays 6 bends well so looks a strong forecast mixer.
Conclusion
Nuka doesn’t have a great draw in 5 and with a pair who can really hit the lids either side of her, this looks a potentially treacherous draw. She has a moderate record in this grade to boot so she looks to face a tough task on the bare face on things in this contest tonight. 1 was much better than this not so long ago, so it would be no surprise to see her feature strongly while 6 stays further so she is a danger to all if she turns handy to the speed.
