Form Focus – Who’s Hot In The Trainer And Jockey Stats 22/01/19

Trainers and Jockeys report week commencing 15/01/2019

Plenty of winners from the trainers and jockeys on our list last week, though not always the ones we cherry picked from the early declarations, but that is always the way things can go, and they are just an aside to the stated facts. The handlers and pilots who are at the very top of their game are well worth a second glance when deciding which horses you want to back but do remember, we keep to a minimum of five recent runners to be included on the lists. Naturally, some of those suggested may not run, so don’t forget you can always check out our other horse racing tips for more up to date information.

In-Form Trainers:

David Griffiths – 62% winners – 62% placed runners

Not a name I can say I expected to top the list but that is the beauty of statistics, they only lie if you force them to, and with five winners in the last two weeks hats off to the Yorkshire trainer. PEARL ACCLAIM

was one of those successes and remains on target for a return to action at Chelmsford on Saturday night. He did only win by half a length but may well have idled once in front and with just an added three pounds here he may be capable of a follow up success.

Nicky Henderson – 40% winners – 60% placed runners

The main man and Champion trainer continues to send out the winners and naturally he has a long list of possible runners over the week ahead. ADJALI

looks the one to be on at first glance and he heads off to Cheltenham on Saturday for Triumph Hurdle trial. A winner at Market Rasen on his British debut he would have probably won at Chepstow were it not for a couple of mistakes, and if he been schooled extensively as seems likely he can win this before an attack at the Festival in March.

Brian Ellison – 33% winners – 53% placed runners

Not the easiest list of runners to pick from for the in-form Ellison stable this week but it might be worth taking an each-way risk on BORDEAUX BILL in the 12.55pm at Doncaster on Saturday if the rest stand their ground and we can get a decent price. He wasn’t beaten too far last time out off the same mark when possibly in front a bit too soon and tiring close home, but he is upped in trip here and could surprise them all. NON-RUNNER.

Andrew Balding – 31% winners – 44% placed runners

It is hardly a trade secret that the Balding horses invariably improve for a run and it might be worth taking a risk that SEEUSOON fits the bill on his second start after a debut last over a totally inadequate mile at Chelmsford. Upped to a more realistic trip for a son of Sea The Moon out of a Singspiel mare he should do a lot better today and may well hit the places at a decent price with a bit of luck.

In-Form Jockeys:

Rex Dingle – 38% winners – 54% placed rides

All change at the top of this particular leaderboard and with five winners in the last two weeks we are talking about a rider at the top of his game. He looks to have a few chances this week but the stand out is STRICTLYADANCER who is on target for a tilt at the 3.45pm at Fakenham on Thursday afternoon. A winner last time out he looks all set up for this sort of event though do be warned, Cottonvale is also declared here for the same yard and if the jockey switches allegiances we will amend this article accordingly.

Henry Brooke – 32% winners 53% placed runners

A bit of a shortage of rides for us to choose from booked at present (two to be exact) so we will go for REVERANT CUST

in the 3.00pm at Catterick tomorrow and no doubt watch the other one romp home in front. Manwell will no doubt prove hard to beat in this three -horse field but I am hoping jockey power will seize the day and see the eight-year-old come home in front.

Aidan Coleman – 26% winners – 44% placed runners

Another jockey with a shortage of early booking and until that changes we are left with three to choose from, and as two of those are possible in the one race my hand is forced and I will go for CALIPSO COLLONGES who has room to improve at the age of seven and won a shade cleverly last time out at Uttoxeter when running on strongly over shorter, suggesting he may have more to offer upped in trip.

Brian Hughes – 25% winners – 42% placed runners

Plenty to choose from for the ever-popular jockey and he seems sure to be in amongst the winners in the next few days as well. Hopefully, HENRY’S JOY will be one of them as the improving six-year-old heads off to the 12.50pm at Doncaster on Friday afternoon looking to follow up a narrow victory at Musselburgh on just his fourth start over fences earlier in the month. NON-RUNNER.
