IN SUMMARY: Plenty of interesting sorts in this and the vote goes to IN THE DIP. She’s shown a solid level of form in two starts to date and improved from her first to second run to finish third at Dundalk last time out. She should come on again and can run well at a good price. Damsefly is a real danger making her second start having impressed on debut whilst the booking of Pat Smullen aboard Summerseat Mist is eye-catching.

1 AMENETTE – Half-sister to a host of winners including Zinziberine and Power Of The Moon and she struggled on debut at Dundalk earlier this month. She was slowly away that day and stayed on towards the finish and she should have learnt plenty from that experience and arrives here with the benefit of race fitness and experience. Has to find something on form but one that’s likely to improve.

2 CASINO RED – Daughter of Tamayuz and she’s out of a dam that ran just once, finishing third of five over 5 furlongs on debut. That bodes well for her here although her trainer rarely sends out a maiden winner and she’s likely to need this initial racecourse experience to learn more about the game. Best watched here for a yard that have been quiet of late.

3 COULD IT BE LOVE – Half-sister to the incredibly classy Uncle Mo and she’s out of a dam that has had plenty of expensive yearlings. She’s by War Front and she hails from a yard that thrive with just these sort of horses although she may appreciate an extra furlong in time. The stable are operating at a 20% strike rate of late and this March filly is likely to be popular in the betting for good reason. Respected.

4 CROWN LEAH – Cost 34,000 Euros as a yearling and she’s out of a mare that won once as a 2yo over 5 furlongs. The yard do relatively well here with a 14% strike rate and they have sent out a winner in the past fortnight which is an obvious positive. Her rider claims 3lbs which will certainly aide her chances and she’s of interest at a slightly bigger price with plenty expected as a 2yo.

5 DAMSEFLY – Ridden prominently on her racecourse debut at Naas and she showed plenty of speed and ability that day to finish fifth of a 10 strong field. She finished 1 1/4 lengths behind a smart colt of the Aiden O’Brien stable and with improvement expected, she should get competitive today. The stable are yet to send out a winner here but they have had 3 winners from 30 runners in the past fortnight and she’s a leading contender here.

6 DANDY SUE – 7,800 Euro purchase as a yearling and her overall profile suggests she’ll need more time to be seen to best effect. Her dam failed to get competitive as a 2yo and only became competitive when entering into handicap company as a 3yo off a basement mark. It could be the same story here for this filly for a yard that are without a winner from 9 runners here.

7 FEADAN – Had a tricky passage on debut when hampered and short of room on a couple of occasions. She’s by Holy Roman Emperor so it’s a surprise to see her over 5 furlongs combined with the fact that her mare was raced just once and that came over a mile. She’ll come on for her racecourse debut but that came less than two weeks ago and others make more appeal.

8 HIMMAH – Interesting sort in this by Intikhab out of a young mare called Ahaaly. She won as a 3yo over 6 furlongs and reached an official rating of 92 before retiring whilst her sire has produced some decent milers over the years so it’s interesting she debuts over 5 furlongs today. This yard has had a winner from their last 4 runners and operate at an 8% strike rate here at Navan.

9 IN THE DIP – Twice-raced filly who showed improvement on her last start to finish 1 3/4 lengths behind True Blue Moon. She’s shown enough to suggest she’s capable in this grade but this is stronger race than her last two assignments and her trainer is without a winner from 36 runners here. She should be capable of winning a race of this nature based on what she has shown to date and is a fair price in this.

10 LADY EPAULETTE – Well-beaten on debut at Dundalk when finishing last of 8, beaten 11-lengths. She was only purchased for 7,000 Euros as a yearling and she looks to want plenty more time and experience before getting involved in the finish. Others have more attractive profiles in this for a yard that are without a winner from their last 5 runners.

11 MY SILVER NAILS – Twice-raced and she’s shown some fair form on turf and sand to date and isn’t without a chance here. She’ll be better suited by a bigger field and a stronger pace here to aim at and that should take some of her keen tendencies away. The yard have only sent out two winners from 60 runners here though and that’s enough to temper enthusiasm today. Stall 1 is fine and the market should guide best.

12 PIPER BOMB – 16,000 Euro purchase and she’s out of a mare that performed over 7 furlongs and a mile. She’s produced some more stamina-centred progeny to date and this trip may be on the sharp side for Adrian McGuiness’ runner. Market should guide best but her overall profile suggests this trip may not be ideal.

13 SOCIAL BUTTERFLY – 12,000 Euros purchase and she ran a nice race on debut at Dundalk at the end of March. She was delivered late that day and was slightly hampered in the finish so she deserves respect for finishing 3 lengths behind the winner, finishing fourth in the process. She should be better suited to today’s turf course although she’s another that may be better suited by an extra furlong.

14 SUMMERSEAT MIST – Finished in-front of Social Butterfly last time out at Dundalk and that form looks good enough to put her in with a chance in this. She was just out-battled in the finish that day but she should have learnt plenty for the experience and the booking of Pat Smullen (16% strike rate in the past fortnight) catches the eye. Stall 12 isn’t ideal but there could be a lot of market support for this one and it’s easy to see why. Respected.

15 TOO FAMILIAR – 25,000 Euro purchase and she’s a daughter of Clodovil so she should have plenty of speed. The yard sent out a winner in maiden company a few weeks ago and are well-capable of having one ready first time out although she would need to be race fit to do that here. Stall 9 is fine and the market should guide best although the percentage call is to oppose her on racecourse debut.
