IN SUMMARY: On his handicap debut and first run past 2m 1f, this looks likely to be a race BOSTON DE LA ROCHE can take in good style for the in form Dan Skelton team. He has shown ability in all three of his hurdling runs so far and gave the distinct impression on his latest start at Haydock when behind Double W’s that he’d need a step up in trip, with his pedigree suggesting the same thing. He has a 385 day absence to overcome but he’s likely to be fully fit and can take advantage of this lenient looking opening handicap mark. Prouts Pub can challenge for a place alongside Cornish Warrior.

1 KING COOL – Inconsistent sort for Gary Moore whose hard to catch right, with only one win from his ten starts over hurdles, with that coming in a novices’ race at Lingfield in March 2016. He had failed to threaten this season until a good effort on his latest start when a clear second over further two weeks ago, looking as though he needed shorter. He gets thatin this and is only 2lb higher, so if building on that effort he’d have to be given a big chance. He isn’t guaranteed to though and looks risky, so perhaps looking elsewhere will pay dividends this time.

2 PROUTS PUB – Twice a winner over hurdles, with the most recent of those coming in December 2015 here over a shorter distance. He has been out of form this season for the most part, though did show signs of his best when a good fifth here in class three company on Boxing Day off a 9lb higher mark than today’s. A mistake four out seemed to rock him and he was never able to get back on terms, with the handicapper dropping him another 3lb as a result. He’s now 8lb below his last winning mark and well treated with conditions to suit and Lizzie Kelly taking the ride. Sound place claims

3 CLONDAW BISTO – Six year old who showed definite promise in novice races for Suzy Smith, placing twice including over C&D back in November when a close second behind Peak To Peak. He hasn’t however gone on from that in three runs since, well beaten on all three occasions and he looked a lazy sort when fourth here over C&D in February. He goes back into handicaps now and perhaps, looks vulnerable off this mark after what he has shown on his last two runs, with others preferred on this occasion.

4 CORNISH WARRIOR – Showed promise in bumpers and a novice hurdle for Rebecca Curtis before joining Neil Mulholland, where on his second run for the yard he won a maiden hurdle at Stratford two weeks ago, staying on strongly to fend off all challengers. He has his handicap debut today off a mark of 112 which is certainly reasonable and he has conditions to suit, so he is  a very interesting contender. Sean Corby retains the ride and takes off 3lb, so all signs point to a big run and he’s respected.

5 BOSTON DE LA ROCHE – Two time winner in France and has shown good amounts of promise for the inform Dan Skelton yard in three runs, though hasn’t been seen since 385 days. He was last seen finishing fourth in a competitive Haydock novices’ race when behind Double W’s and makes his handicap debut for the yard with Bridget Andrew’s taking off 3lb. A mark of 111 could be seen as very generous as he should appreciate the step up in trip and his pedigree does suggest more can certainly be expected. He looks likely to take this on his way to better things and has to be respected.

6 BARNEY FROM TYANEE – Showed some promise in novice events including a second at Lingfield in January but he was soundly beaten on handicap debut at Exeter on his latest start, weakening tamely after two out. On that evidence this step back in trip should be well received, though he has only been dropped 2lb and perhaps he may need more before he’s to triumph in handicaps. Conditions to suit and the in form Harry Cobden takes the ride, but others are preferred.

7 SUNNYTAHLIATEIGAN – Showed ability in two bumpers for Ian Williams and he did show some ability on his first run over hurdles, finishing fourth at Huntingdon despite some poor jumps throughout. He hasn’t been so good the last twice but he’ll find this much easier on handicap debut and isn’t one to discount for a yard whose still in good form at present with five winners from their last twenty-one runners. Place claims under the equally in form David Noonan and not one to discount.

8 MAX MILANO – Twelve year old who has only run eight times since February 2010, last seen when pulling up at Huntingdon in May 2016 off a 4lb higher mark. He’s facing some potentially improving rivals in this and the lack of running is certainly a concern, with his age perhaps compounding that fact. He’d be a surprise winner and others are readily preferred.
