Casino Prince @ Vinery Handicap Tips & Betting Preview

A quality field of three-year-olds lines up in the Casino Prince @ Vinery Handicap at Rosehill on Wednesday and the form out of this race should be respected. In what could be a premier Saturday race, the 3YO Handicap features some up-and-coming types and it promises to be an exciting race.

In Summary: There are some talented thoroughbreds in action here which includes the well-performed Royal Navy. The Snowden-trained runner is owned by the powerful Coolmore Stud and he has form this campaign with back-to-back wins. He should be in the thick of the finish and prove the toughest test for our top pick DAWN WALL. The Chris Waller-trained filly is taking on some tough boys in this, but she scored an easy 2.3-length win last start and she will relish the rise in distance. Wine Bush is a capable type which gets a 3kg apprentice in the saddle. He’s the stablemate to Dawn Wall and both Waller-trained runners should go well.

1 Wine Bush – Ran well when third fresh up and he has form behind some nice types last campaign. The High Chaparral gelding won the UCI Stakes at Flemington before running poorly in the Victorian Derby, but this is much easier and he should run nicely.

2 Royal Navy – Scored consecutive wins earlier this campaign before taking on a tough field and running eighth last start. Punters have lost their confidence after that effort, but he’s a talented type and this is a significant drop back in class. He’s holding steady in the market, but we’re expected a late drift for this Snowden-trained colt.

3 Salsonic – Has had three starts on this track for no luck, but the Hinchinbrook gelding was flying home last start at Randwick where he was promoted to third after getting hampered in the straight. That was an impressive finish over the mile and the extra 200m will suit perfectly. We wouldn’t rule him out and he could provide an upset.

4 Impavido – Has the breeding to suggest he will enjoy this distance, but its performance last start wasn’t flash. The Bjorn Baker-trained gelding was a 3.3-length winner on debut in demanding fashion, but he finished seventh at Beaumont last start when running as the 2/1 favourite. He needs to improve and show what he did on debut.

5 Dawn Wall – Chris Waller-trained filly which turned around a moderate showing on debut to win by 2.3 lengths last start. She enjoyed the quick rise up in distance and she will appreciate the longer distance here. There has been plenty of betting support for the filly and she gets an ideal barrier draw of four to work with.

6 Ready For Success – 10 starts for only one win and three placings. He has been taking on lesser opposition than this and performing well, but this is another level altogether and we’re predicting that he struggles against this class.

7 Allez Bien – Last start winner at Wyong and it gets the inside draw to work with. The Baker-trained filly drops nicely in weight to 54.5kg with Tim Clark in the saddle and she should improve with the extra distance. The daughter by O’Reilly has breeding on its side and she’s not the worst chance.

8 Tempers Flare – Had only four starts for one win and one placing, but he hasn’t chosen an easy target. The three-year-old gelding was a winner at Nowra second up in January, but he ran poorly as the short favourite following that and there wasn’t much to like last start. Shouldn’t get close to them.

9 Belle du Sud – From the Waterhouse/Bott stable and it has won this campaign, but she’s unlikely to get close here. She ran fourth in the same race as Tempers Flare last start which shouldn’t be a good form guide for this so we’re prepared to overlook her chances.

10 Noble Truth – Yet to win in three starts for trainer Anthony Cummings, but he looked better over the longer distance last start and another placing could follow. He drops nicely down in weight to 53kg for this and we wouldn’t put a line through his chances.
