IN SUMMARY: The two Simon Dow runners are of interest but Bee Case is just preferred of the two over this trip if ready to go from a break. They should both go well with the latter just preferred but they could bump into the progressive SANS SOUCI BAY, who looked better than her final placing when pulling too hard at this track earlier this month and she can prove too strong with Sean Levey back on board today. Reign On was a good winner last time over C&D and will be danger to all if overcoming his penalty.
Bee Case – Previously with Hugo Palmer and only win in five runs came at Chelmsford when a ready 2¼ length winner in August. Flopped when last of 9 stepped up in class next time out at Goodwood (Good) and below form when only sixth of 10 returned to the scene of her win last time out. First run for Simon Dow and 2lb lower for this than her last run win. Yard in good form and also run Chica De La Noche. Promising 5lb claimer on board today and previous jockey seemed to think she would have no problem at this trip after her last run and interesting if the market speaks in her favour returning from a 100-day break.
Sans Souci Bay – Been in good form this Autumn coming back from a three month break in October to get off the mark at Chelmsford over 7f in a lesser race. Runner up next time out on first start at this course and last of 5 when sent off favourite stepped up to 1m over this course seventeen days ago in this grade, pulling hard early on. Looks to have more to give at this level and jockey booking a plus if different tactics are employed today dropped back down to 7f. Big player.
Red Gunner – Only three runs so far and got off the mark at Wolverhampton last month when just doing enough to hold off the well backed favourite Doctor Bartolo by ¾ of a length. Sent off favourite next time out on his first start in handicap company and finished well beaten in last. Has cheek-pieces on today for the first time and has a bit to prove going into this but can get involved if putting his best foot forward for a trainer who has plenty of winners on this track.
Tailor’s Row – Won on debut over 6f at Chelmsford in May and a couple of creditable runs at this level and sent into Class 2 company since. Improved for his first run after a short break this term to finish third of 7 at Wolverhampton two weeks ago over today’s trip but has a bit to prove going into this as he has faded quite tamely at the business end in two runs over this trip and may find others too strong today.
Chica De La Noche – Been in fair form since switched to the AW in this grade and didn’t have to show much improvement from a mark of 77 to land a nine runner maiden fillies’ stakes at Kempton by ¾ of a length when last seen. Looks the stable pick on jockey bookings (also run Bee Case) and yard continue in good form. Steps into handicap company now from the same mark and needs more to follow up.
Reign On – Two wins from seven runs including when running a career best to win from a mark of 69 to score over C&D a month ago, finding a bit extra under pressure to get up by ¾ of a length in a twelve runner nursery in lesser company. Up 7lb for that win but won with a bit in hand that day. Should go well under his promising 3lb claimer. Player.
Mullarkey – Still a maiden after seven runs and well below form when only twelfth of 14 at Kempton eleven days ago. Needs a bit more dropped in trip and not without a chance now 2lb lower than his last good run over this trip when third at Goodwood four starts ago but others come into this in better form and easy to overlook today.
