3.15pm Towcester Tips & Betting Preview 10/11/2016

The feature race on Thursday’s Towcester card is a Class 3 handicap chase over about 2m5f. Read on for our full race preview and experts’ betting tips.

IN SUMMARY: There could easily be quite a bit more to come from Mystifiable, who gained two convincing wins during his first campaign over fences and certainly didn’t run badly before being pulled up at the Aintree festival on his latest outing. Always On The Run will find this easier than the 2m Cheltenham event he contested last month and  could have untapped potential over today’s trip, while JIMMY THE JETPLANE earns excellent marks for his consistency since switched to fences and deserved his Sedgefield win a fortnight ago. They are both natural front runners but both this distance and going back right handed might play into the hands of the latter.

1 Jimmy The Jetplane – Runner-up in first four chases before making all for deserved success in first-time cheekpieces at Sedgefield (3m3f, good) a fortnight ago; another 4lb higher now and this race looks a bit stronger, but he could have more to offer in the headgear and can make a bold bid.

2 Always On The Run – 3-6 since switched to fences last season, the latest win gained at Kelso (2m1f, good) in May; soundly beaten when returning from break at Cheltenham last month but is in much calmer waters here and remains unexposed over this sort of trip; hood removed; major player.

3 Milan Bound – NR

4 Mystifiable – Pulled up in a 3m1f Listed handicap at the Aintree festival when last seen in April but actually ran well for a long way that day, and had looked progressive when winning his two starts beforehand (2m4f/2m6f); can benefit from both the drop in class and the drop in trip here, and is dangerous to ignore.

5 Bar De Ligne – Rallied to take second at Market Rasen (3m, good) a week ago and, on that evidence, the stiff finish here will suit; continues to lurk on a dangerous mark but hasn’t been firing on all cylinders for a while now and others have more appealing profiles.

6 Milgen Bay – Currently only 1lb higher than when drawing clear to score at Huntingdon (2m4f, good to soft) just under a year ago but looked very laboured when third at Fontwell (2m5f, good to soft) three weeks ago and this is stronger than the races he usually contests.

myracing Forecast Prices: 5/2 Always On The Run, 3/1 Mystifiable, 7/2 Jimmy The Jetplane, 6/1 Milan Bound, 8/1 Bar De Ligne, Milgen Bay
