4.25pm Fakenham Tips & Betting Preview 14/10/2016

IN SUMMARY: The bottom four on the racecard have all been seen to good effect when making the running in the fairly recent past and it will be interesting to see which one seizes the early lead here. The vote goes to PRINCETOWN ROYALE, who has the stamina to cope if, as is very possible, this develops into a stiff test, seems versatile regarding tactics and, having won twice at Cartmel this season, is expected to be suited by this tight left-handed track. Keltus and Wadswick Court also have major roles to play and it would be dangerous to rule out Wiesentraum, who has been off since a disappointing run in this race last year but is a dual C&D winner.

1 Gallery Exhibition – Inconsistent last season and been off since unseating rider in May; produced a good performance to score by 6l at Kempton (2m4f, good to soft) last November and today’s trip/ground will also suit but he may be more effective on right-handed tracks and is not an easy one to predict.

2 Workbench – Comes here after winning the same 2m1f contest at Fontwell for the third season running and, based on his very creditable second at Cheltenham (2m, good) just under a year ago, today’s 4lb higher mark is manageable; has been placed over 3m1f but, with a strong pace likely today, there is concern his stamina will be stretched.

3 Wiesentraum – Absent since well beaten in this race last year and the rest of his 2015 form was also disappointing; has plenty to prove but is a dual C&D winner and will enter the equation if attracting some market support.

4 Keltus – Front-runner who has won two 2m4f novice events at Hexham this season; slightly disappointing when only third of four in a Newton Abbot handicap (2m5f, good) on his latest outing in August but could have untapped potential over 3m and probably won’t be far away.

5 Wadswick Court – Proved he’s suited by a sharp left-handed track when making all to score by 12l at Cartmel (2m5f, good to soft) in August and was a very respectable sixth in a Listed handicap at Market Rasen (2m6f, good) last month; untested over 3m but a big player if his stamina holds out.

6 Princeton Royale – Has a very similar profile to Wadswick Court, having made all for a clearcut success at Cartmel (2m5f, good) in August before a very respectable effort in a Listed handicap at Market Rasen (2m6f, good); however, where they differ is that this gelding is already proven over 3m; wore blinkers last time; usual visor back on today.

7 Noble Legend – Currently only 1lb higher than when making all to score by 11l over 2m5f here in December and 5lb lower than when runner-up over C&D in March; off since a disappointing effort later that month and not one to rely upon heavily, but impossible to rule out.
