Our race preview takes a look at a tough Handicap Chase at Newton Abbot. A case can be made for many of these, read the full preview below to all our betting tips.
IN SUMMARY: Mrsrobin certainly is tempting after making all easily over C&D last time out, but the 13lb rise stems enthusiasm somewhat. QUEEN’S BAY bumped into a very well handicapped horse last time out and wasn’t too far away, and off of the same mark he may well be able to take today’s contest. Louis Phillipe has won here the last twice and also needs to be respected.
1 MOORLANDS GEORGE – Doesn’t appear to have much leeway off of his current mark but was a creditable 3rd over C&D latest behind Louis Phillipe in August. Should run his race but may well find one of these too strong and probably wont reverse form with the aforementioned rival.
2 OSCAR FIAIN – Seems to be on a handy mark at present but has been poor the last twice latest over hurdles, latest when a long 3rd here, but did lose a shoe. (2m5f, Good). Needs the return to fences to revive, but Tim Vaughan is in form, as is Dickie Johnson so it would be no surprise if he was in the shake up.
3 MRSROBIN – Progressive 6yo who is going from strength to strength, latest when making all with minimum fuss over C&D latest. Has to contend with a 13lb rise which makes things very difficult, and will need to improve even further to take this. Not discounted and probably the main danger.
4 QUEEN’S BAY – Bumped into a very well handicapped horse when a keeping on 2nd at Perth a few weeks ago (2m7f, Good to Soft). Off of the same mark today running for the inform Mulholland team and she is bound to run her race with the extra distance today a likely plus.
5 LOUIS PHILLIPE – In good form lately, with 2 wins on the bounce here in August. Should make a bold bid for his course Hat Trick and has been pretty consistent in the past so should run his race either way. Will probably find one of these too good.
6 BENNYS GIRL – 0-17 under rules and is 8lb out of the handicap today. Although 3rd the last twice, she was beaten out of sight both times and its very doubtful she’ll be able to notch up her first win today, look elsewhere.
myracing Forecast Prices: Mrsrobin 7/4, 2/1 Queen’s Bay, 3/1 Louis Phillipe, 5/1 Oscar Fiain, 7/1 Moorlands George, 33/1 Bennys Girl
