7.00pm Dundalk Tips & Betting Preview 07/10/2016

Aidan O’Brien has won all four renewals of this contest and he can make it five out of five with LEO MINOR. This two year old War Front colt was smashed off the boards late on prior to his run in the Group 3 Curragh Stakes last time out, 10/1 into 2/1 in a matter of minutes. He was held up in rear by the rail but couldn’t find a gap as there was a wall of horses in front of him. He travelled like a dream and would have probably won if he got the run he needed. He was eventually eased down so take no notice of the form of that contest. This is a drop down in class and he can take full advantage in the hands of Donnacha O’Brien.

1 AMBASSADORIAL – Very useful colt owned by the powerful Godolphin and made a hugely satisfactory debut when winning over course and distance at 10/1, comfortably. Mick Halford is the leading trainer at Dundalk and this horse warrants plenty of respect with improvement very likely.

2 CONFRONTATIONAL – Won a moderate Down Royal maiden and was well beat in Listed company at Tipperary in July. Finished last of the five runners behind Leo Minor at Naas last time out and is impossible to fancy for win purposes off the back of that.

3 EAGLE SPIRIT – Makes his polytrack debut for Aidan O’Brien who has won this race the last four years in succession. Won his maiden at Leopardstown over a mile in June before finishing 2nd to Boyfriend Brian at the Listowel Festival. Beat 18 lengths by Capri in a Group 2 last time out and needs to show more.

4 EXECUTIVE FORCE – William Haggas is travelling over to Ireland in an attempt to land this valuable prize. His yard is in terrific form this season and this Sepoy colt won very impressive on debut at Newbury, forging clear. Massive chance if he handles the polytrack.

5 GRAND COALITION – One of the more exposed runners in the field and ran a good race when 3rd to Alicante Dawn in Listed company at Ripon in August. Beat Intelligence Cross in a Curragh maiden who has since gone on to land a Group 3 easily so wouldn’t discount a big run at a big price.

6 KING ELECTRIC – Very likeable gelding who beat Peace Envoy (Group 3 winner since) in a Curragh maiden in the summer. Creditable 4th to Medicine Jack in a Group at the Curragh in June over 6f and followed that up with a 2 & 1/2 lengths fourth to Churchill which is very decent form. Big player.

7 LEO MINOR – Two year old colt by War Front, bred to be exceptional in his first season and also bred to run well on polytrack. Latest run can be excused; got no run whatsoever and had to be eased down. Was heavily punted that day (10/1 – 2/1) and can make amends dropped down in class for a trainer who has won every renewal of this contest.

8 LOW LATENCY – Well backed on debut when a well beat 3rd at the Curragh two weeks ago and needs to show massive improvement to take a hand here. Also has a poor draw coming out of Stall 10 so is easily passed over.

9 REBEL DE LOPE – Charles Hills is another British trainer who is sending a horse over to Ireland for this valuable race. Chris Hayes takes the ride on the Lope De Vega colt who was very impressive at Sandown on his last start in Class 3 company. Has a Group 1 entry and has to be respected whilst he also has winning form on the All Weather (Won at Lingfield).

10 OH GRACE – The Jim Bolger stable is in terrific nick but this filly needs to show massive improvement to take a hand. This is her polytrack debut and although she bolted up in a Leopardstown maiden in June, she was tailed off at the Curragh last time out and is hard to fancy.
