Tom Bellamy had a week he will never forget as he rode outsider White Noise to victory in the Grade 2 Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival last week! He travels to Plumpton Racecourse for a sole ride on Monday which is interesting!
Bellamy has a respectable 16 per cent return at Plumpton in the last five seasons and he has ridden one winner from just three rides at the track this season! He doesn’t come here often but he must have a solid chance on the David Dennis runner, Imperial Pride.
Running in the 3m2f handicap chase on ground forecast to be soft, this is going to be a gruelling test but this is a horse who has won multiple times on the point scene and she was right at her best when scoring at Huntingdon just 15 days ago.
Now a 10yo, the application of first-time cheekpieces seemed to spark the girl into life when scoring by more than six lengths on the day and although she is now 5lb higher in the weights, she has to be respected given the headgear is retained.
That was also Imperial Pride’s first win under rules and there’s every chance she could remain feasibly treated despite the fact she is getting on in year! So, what is the main danger to her?
Topweight Ferret Jeeter from the Anthony Honeyball stable is probably number one in the list of dangers. He has won three of his five completed starts in handicap hurdles, which includes a course victory and if he handles the larger obstacles here, he’s a major player.
