Chepstow‘s three-day fixture this weekend marks the unofficial return of National Hunt racing in Britain, with the Flat season coming to a close in the next couple of weeks. It’s time for many racing fans to come out of hibernation and all roads now lead to Cheltenham. We’ve got you covered and have picked out three horses who might be of interest if they line up this weekend. Take a look at our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.
Paul Nicholls has targeted this meeting for a number of years now and usually comes away with a couple of winners. Joyau Allen won a bumper at Exeter in good style on his debut under rules back in 2024. He then bumepd into a subsequent Grade 2 hurdle winner when second under a penalty. Brother to the excellent Envoi Allen, he should improve significantly now going over hurdles.
Ammes won here at Chepstow on the Flat and made a winning start to his hurdling career at Sedgefield. James Owen’s three-year-old jumped well for an ex-Flat recruit and pulled clear on the run-in to score by five lengths. The trainer does particularly well with juvenile hurdlers and this horse should be winning more races in this sphere.
Harry Skelton is already down to ride Cooltobecareless here but if the race is split into two divisions, impressive Irish point winner Hitintheheadlines could also line up. He has been purchased privately off the back off a 14-length victory at Tallow in February and clearly has a decent engine. This son of Harzand could be a smart prospect and winning a bumper at this level shouldn’t be beyond him.
