Thirsk has been a happy hunting ground for West Yorkshire-based trainer Sam England this year, having had four winners from her five runners. An 80 per cent strike-rate certainly isn’t to be sniffed at and it could improve, as she sends one runner there on Monday.
England’s strike-rate in the last fortnight is a very healthy 20 per cent and that bodes well too. The horse in question has a decent chance on his best form, despite not showing his best so far this summer. Take a look at our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.
Urban Sky was a winner on debut at Hamilton last season and he showed a good attitude to pass Simply Blue. He had to overcome an awkward start and looked very green at one stage but still managed to come out on top, with that win coming for previous connections.
Highly tried after that, he took on The Lion In Winter in the Group 3 Acomb Stakes next time but was well beaten on the day. It was a similar story in a valuable sales race at the Curragh after that and a drop in grade had to be on the agenda.
Low grade handicaps could be the answer, despite the fact that he has struggled in two starts in this sphere. The son of Belardo has fallen significantly down the weights and it’s only a matter of time until he’s competitive once again.
Too keen when jumping poorly in a juvenile hurdle on stable debut, it’s no surprise that he’s back on the Flat now. Oisin Orr takes the ride and he has ridden the three-year-old before, so it would be unwise to rule out a big run here.
