The Grassroots Series concludes at Nottingham on Tuesday and there’s some competitive action to look forward to. Nottingham has put up some decent prize money for the final races which has attracted a lot of runners. This means there are plenty of each-way opportunities so we’ve selected some outsiders at big prices to consider. You can check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.
Just A Spark (22-1, William Hill) has admittedly been a tad disappointing in her last couple of starts but the handicapper has dropped her 1lb. She was a brave winner off a 2lb lower mark in a competitive race at Newmarket back in June. It’s also noteworthy that she was third off this mark over 5f on soft ground in April. The 6f trip here clearly suits and a return to form could be on the cards.
Nonsuch Lad (14-1, William Hill) won on soft ground at Sandown in September last year and that victory came off a 1lb higher mark. On that evidence, this looks like a competitive mark and he should be there or thereabouts. He ran a solid enough race at Leicester last time and would have finished closer if settling better in the early part of the race. Luke Catton takes a further 5lb off here which can only increase his chances.
Bint Al Daar (16-1, William Hill) got off the mark over a mile at Newmarket last month and the form of that race has worked out well. The step up to 1m2f hasn’t worked in two subsequent starts but she drops back to an extended mile here. Now just 4lb higher than when scoring at Newmarket, Kevin Philippart De Foy’s filly should be capable of winning more races.
