Aidan O’Brien has a great few chances at the Curragh on Saturday but it is no surprise that he will travel to France to have just one ride there for Aidan O’Brien on Sunday in the Group 1 Prix Morny. He will also take the ride on Above The Curve in the other Group 1 on the card for Aidan’s son, Joesph O’Brien. Will it be worth the spin over? We certainly think so! Let’s take a look at his ride for Aidan in more detail below.
Ryan’s big chance of the day is aboard River Tiber, a very well bred son of Wootton Bassett. This juvenile is unbeaten in three career starts to date. He won a Navan maiden by 10 lengths on debut before winning a decent race comfortably at Naas soon after over 5f.
River Tiber then went off a really well backed favourite for the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot, and with all that weight on his shoulders along with the intense expectation, he really delivered. Despite having to work hard for the win, he beat 19 other rivals on the day.
The form of that race has worked out extremely well. The third, Bucanero Fuerte, has gone on to win twice since, including a four length win in the Group 1 Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh. The fifth, Haatem, has won a Group 2 subsequently, while the seventh and the 20th have also gone on to taste success since.
This is a nice piece of placement by Aidan with regard to River Tiber and we think Moore will be coming home with the bacon on Sunday!
