Horses for courses: three ITV runners form a tasty 42-1 treble on Thursday 🏇🏽

Clemmie Newmarket Racecourse

The ITV cameras are live from Newmarket and Carlisle on Thursday. With this in mind, we’ve picked out three runners with proven course records at their respective tracks. When combined, these three runners form an attractively priced 42-1 treble. Check out our free tips page for daily content across all British and Irish racing.

1.50 Newmarket

Despite the fact that Masekela (7-4, Paddy Power) is yet to win on the July course but there’s solid evidence which makes him eligible for this. Masekela was a narrow second to dual Group 1-winner Native Trail in last season’s Superlative Stakes which is his sole start here. The Derby is working out well this year so his fourth place finish looks very strong. Andrew Balding’s charge looks difficult to oppose here and a big run is expected.

2.45 Carlisle

Not all horses are suited by tracks with uphill finishes which means those with proven form on them are a valuable commodity. Carlisle has a stiff finish and Monica (5-1, William Hill) was successful in her only start at the track. She could hardly have been more impressive when winning a course and distance novice event last time out. The four-length winning margin indicated plenty of potential and she makes her handicap debut here. 75 is a reasonable opening mark and she should go well.

3.35 Newmarket

Yibir (13-8, William Hill) hasn’t yet hit the lofty heights he reached last season. That being said, he is a Breeder’s Cup winner and he won on this card last year. This looks like a good opportunity for the four-year-old to get back on track. The Charlie Appleby-trained gelding has the best form in the race and is clearly capable of much better so it could be worth keeping him on side.
