IN SUMMARY: This may prove to be an interesting maiden and the vote goes to JEREMIAH. Charlie Fellowes’ colt made a good impression when third on debut at Chelmsford and he can take this with normal progression now switched to the turf. Better is expected from Mythological today whilst Strongarm Chaser should go well.
BRUDTLAND – Well-bred son of Dubawi who holds a Derby entry. Charlie Appleby’s yard is in fine form, boasting a 29% strike rate in the past fortnight and his runner deserves plenty of respect with a strong pedigree and lofty entries at this stage.
CANDIDATE – Twice-raced Camelot colt who improved from his first to second run, finishing fourth, beaten 2 lengths last time out. This is much stronger and whilst he should improve, others make more appeal on today’s terms.
COURTSIDE – Ran with credit on racecourse debut over a mile here earlier in the month. He’ll certainly improve for the step up in trip today given his dam’s sire is Sadler’s Wells and he’s an interesting contender in this. The yard have failed to send out a winner from their last 18 runners though.
DIOCLETIAN – Clearly improved for his racecourse debut when finishing midfield over a mile here last time out. He will improve for that run having looked a shade green again and he shouldn’t be far away with the step up in trip sure to bring about more improvement.
HIGHCASTLE – Never featured on racecourse debut here back in September, finishing second last, beaten 30 lengths. He was slowly away that day and very green so whilst he should improve today, others make far more appeal on form and potential.
JEREMIAH – Showed plenty of ability on racecourse debut at Chelmsford earlier this month to finish third of 8, beaten 3 1/4 lengths. There’s more to come from him and he could take all the beating with the benefit of that run under his belt.
MAKING MIRACLES – Took a big step forward to finish second of ten, beaten 3/4 of a length at Pontefract last time out. He’s the most experienced runner in today’s field and he could take these along at some stage. It would be disappointing if he were to win this though with an official rating of just 76.
M C MULDOON – Relatively cheap 43,000 GNS purchase as a yearling and he’s been handed a less than ideal draw in stall 1 today. The yard aren’t renowned for first-time out winners and others make a bit more appeal on these terms.
YTHOLOGICAL – Derby entrants in the John Gosden yard always spark interest although this son of Galileo needs to do far more than he did on racecourse debut. He finished last of 9 earlier in the month in a weak event and the market will guide best here. Ryan Moore gets aboard for the first time.
NEERAAN – Didn’t go forward at Kempton last time out having shown ability at Hamilton back in August. He’s returned to the turf here which will suit but others look stronger in terms of pedigree and he may be best watched today.
SEINESATIONAL – Half-brother to some decent types albeit no world beaters. He should have enough ability to do himself justice on racecourse debut although he is more than likely going to need this outing and he is opposed until tackling handicaps.
STRONGARM CHASER – Seventh of 10 in a Nottingham maiden a week ago and he showed ability that day. The step up in trip is an obvious positive and he’s been drawn well in stall 11 on the stands side. Andrea Atzeni takes over in the saddle and he should go well.
