This is a Class 3 handicap raced over a mile, see our betting tips and the full race preview below.
IN SUMMARY: MATHS PRIZE has run in smart company this season, notably when fifth at Newbury behind Shutter Speed, Raheen House and Enable. A repeat of that should be more than enough dropped into a Class 3 handicap. The cheekpieces return which saw him just a length and a half behind King Edward VII Stakes runner up Khalidi last time they were sported. See The Master arrives in cracking form with wins at Nottingham and Chepstow, he will have no problems with conditions and ranks the biggest danger.
1 ELTEZAM – Makes his stable debut for the Amanda Perrett yard today having been purchased for 32,000GNS. He showed some decent form as a 2yo but he was off the track for his whole 3yo career and only reappeared earlier this year. He’s dropping through the weights, now racing off a 3lb lower mark (87) and whilst he has shown some form this season, he may be better for a run now with a new yard. The yard have an impressive 40% strike rate at present.
2 FRANK BRIDGE – Has been raised 4lbs for a victory over 7 furlongs at Epsom last time out. He should be fine on this ground having won on Good to Soft that day but he steps up into Class 3 company for the first time today which may just find him out having done all his winning in weaker races than this. He’ll do well to win this giving away plenty of weight to his 3yo rivals and is best opposed today.
3 MATHS PRIZE – Roger Charlton’s runner is evidently talented but there are question marks surrounding his attitude and willingness to stick his head in-front. He has the form to win this based on his most recent run at Newmarket and he has placed on Good to Soft ground although he will have no problems with the ground drying out. The yard are going well at present with a repeat of either his run behind Khalidi last season or Shutter Speed this year likely to be plenty to get him home in front.
4 TIME ZONE – Made a promising start to his career with a victory on racecourse debut at Newmarket at the end of last season. He’s not shown the same sort of form this year in two starts at Newmarket and he races off a 4lb lower mark today. That leaves him with a bit to find based on his form and the ground has to be a concern having raced on fast ground in all three career starts. Silvestre De Sousa rides for the first time today and the betting market may provide some much-needed clues.
5 SEE THE MASTER – Clive Cox’s runner has been handed a 5lb rise in the weights following a good victory at Nottingham over an extended mile last month. That backed up an earlier success at Chepstow and he goes in search of a hat-trick of wins today which should be possible given he has form on softer ground. Adam Kirby is back in the saddle which is positive and conditions look sure to suit this progressive son of Dutch Art. Respected.
6 STERLING SILVA – Bit of a frustrating sort having run a series of inconsistent races. He showed plenty of improvement at Newmarket last month having been gelded but he went backwards at Sandown next time out, finishing fourth of a 5-strong field, beaten 5 lengths. He has winning form on Heavy ground which could be a massive advantage in today’s conditions so he deserves respect on that basis and he’s worth a second look in the betting.
