IN SUMMARY: The ever consistent THE FEATHERED NEST has been performing well of late for Richard Fahey and should be rewarded in this contest back down in class. She performed admirably in a Class 2 event on her latest start when a close third and she should appreciate this drop back into Class 3 company. Conditions will suit and Paul Hanagan takes the ride, so she looks very tough to beat off a mark of 83. Her likely main challenger will be Glenrowan Rose, who drops back into handicap company from pattern races and she has scored off two pound higher in the past.

1 GLENROWAN ROSE – Has struggled the last thrice in pattern company, finishing ninth at Ayr when last seen in Listed company and this represents a welcome drop in class for her. She returns to handicaps of a mark of 90 which is five pounds lower than when she was a good second behind Caspian Price at Musselburgh in October. Hood goes on and she has scored off two pound higher in the past, so her claims are obvious under Andrew Mullen.

2 AVON BREEZE – Eight year old mare for Richard Whitaker whose last win came back in April 2016 at Ripon and she is now two pounds lower in the handicap. She does however return from a 259 day break for this race and she’d likely prefer softer ground to show her best judging on the best of her efforts. She looks vulnerable against some potential improvers and is likely best watched on seasonal debut.

3 TILLY TROTTER – Ex Dermot Weld runner who went off the boil on her final two runs for that trainer, well beaten at Navan on her final run for that stable in May. She is on a mark of 87 on her British debut which doesn’t see her well treated against some of these so she is up against it on that basis. One to watch in the betting on her stable debut for Declan Carroll but unlikely to make an impact in this contest.

4 HOPE SOLO – Won a maiden at Chester back in July 2016 but she returned from an eleven month absence when thirteen lengths behind The Feathered Nest at York and she looks up against it. She has only been lowered two pounds in the handicap and it’s hard to trust she will bounce back from that run, so she is one to cross off the list on this occasion.

5 PARTITIA – Sir Michael Stoute trained filly who hasn’t been the easiest of horses to follow, struggling to match the form of her conditions race win back in August at Newbury. She was undone by the combination of a stiff finish and soft ground at Carlisle on her latest start, so should be happier with today’s conditions. She does remain risky though and she isn’t guaranteed to be at her best judging by her scattered profile. Possible each way claims but she doesn’t convince.

6 SPIN DOCTER – Won three times as a two year old for Richard Fahey, with the latest of those come on her final start of 2016, winning at Southwell on the all weather. She didn’t however show much on her reappearance when nine lengths behind Partitia and far more is needed if she’s to be threatening. Inconsistent sort and likely best watched on this occasion.

7 THE FEATHERED NEST – Has been running consistently well in six furlong handicaps this season for Richard Fahey, finishing third on her latest start at York in a Class 2 event and she drops down in class for this assignments. She remains on the same mark as that latest run and she looks set to take all the beating with conditions to suit and Paul Hanagan retaining the ride.

8 LOVE OASIS – Has won two of her last three starts for Mark Johnston, storming away to win at Leicester on her latest start by the tune of three lengths. She does however go up markedly in class for this and faces some stern opposition against both The Feathered Nest and Partitia. Conditions will suit and the in form PJ McDonald takes the ride, but she does look to be playing for places only on this occasion.
