There were no Monday Blues here at MRT HQ as we smashed in a £297 Lucky 15! BOOM!

How We Did It

The first leg of the Lucky 15 was Fine Resolve of the Alexandra Dunn stable. Although quite weak in the market, Josephine Gordon was an eye catching booking on the horse who was a good second prior to this run. The 1m 5f took some getting today at Bath but Josephine took the running up turning onto the home straight and powered on to beat Thomas Blossom quite easily for a finish. The SP was 6/1 which was a mega start to proceedings.

Next in line was the Richard Fahey trained Full Of Promise with exciting apprentice jockey Adam McNamara in the saddle. He is extremely good value for his 5 pound claim and that was telling on very heavy going at Hamilton today. Held up near rear, he gradually wound the horse up and hitting the furlong pole came in between the horses’ either side of him and gritted it out to the line and now we were dreaming that the £2,040 Lucky 15 was really alive!

The disappointing part of the Lucky 15 was Little Pippin in the 4.55pm at Hamilton who sadly had to settle for 3rd place after travelling powerfully into the race.

Onto the final leg with still a huge amount to play for. Rocktherunway had not won a race for about three years but he ran a fine race when second before today and he loves a bit of cut in the ground, keeps galloping which is exactly what you need in testing conditions. Connor Beasley did the right thing in taking the early lead, grabbing the rail and getting them all off the bridle early. It was a long old slog and the race went on forever it seemed, but the horse just kept on finding and he went on to win very easily.
