8.40pm Sandown Tips & Betting Preview 08/06/2017

This is a Class 5 handicap over 1m 1f, see our betting tips and the full race preview below.

IN SUMMARY: The handicapper looks to have let GALLIFREY in lightly on her handicap debut and she can beat these off a mark of 76. She’s better than this mark and she proved that when finishing second to the Oaks winner Enable on her racecourse debut. She should be fit enough today and will take all the beating. Carol can give her the most to think about with Ryan Moore in the saddle today.

1 EJAYTEEKAY – Takes a big drop in grade today having finished a distant eighth of nine last time out at Ascot. She won an All-Weather handicap off this mark in March by a neck although this is far more competitive and she’s badly against it on today’s terms with plenty of 3yo sorts in the field. It may pay to look elsewhere today although the yard are in a fair run of form at present.

2 CAROL – Has shown clear improvement this season with two decent efforts over 1m 2f at Nottingham. She finished second by a length last time out off a 2lb lower mark and this daughter of Acclamation should be suited by today’s conditions now down slightly in trip. The booking of Ryan Moore is obviously eye-catching and she’s likely to be strong in the betting today. Respected.

3 GALLIFREY – Finished 3 3/4 lengths behind the subsequent English Oaks winner Enable on racecourse debut last season which is excellent form. She went one better at Kempton in December to break her maiden tag and she’s been off the track since so it’s hard to know how race fit she will be today. A mark of 76 looks extremely generous on her form to date and she’ll be dangerous if she’s fully tuned up here.

4 TITI MAFKI – Turned out quickly under a penalty following a runaway success at Hamilton last time out. She looks well-treated under a penalty and she’s likely to serve it up to these from the front and she’ll be difficult to peg back if she’s allowed an easy lead. James Doyle replaces Joe Fanning in the saddle and all the signs point to another big run. Respected in this.

5 IXELLES DIAMOND – Finished 3 lengths behind Ejayteekay at Chelmsford earlier this season and she’s poorly treated on today’s terms. She has to give away plenty of weight to much better rivals given she’s a 6yo and she’s the bottom rated filly in this handicap with a low mark of 57. She’s likely to find this too tough and will be better suited back down in grade without having to give away big allowances.

6 STARLIGHT CIRCUS – Marco Botti’s runner makes her handicap debut today following some fair runs in maiden company. She finished 8 lengths behind Gallifrey on her final start of last season and she may just need this off a break now stepped up in trip. She’s by High Chaparral so she’s likely to enjoy some extra distance in time although she would be of interest with market support.

7 VIGEE LE BRUN – Was highly-tried last season following a good third on debut at Newbury. She was outclassed in a Class 2 maiden and she was never involved in a Listed contest at Newbury on her final start of last season. She’s done slightly better since her sights have been lowered and she’s down in grade and in the handicap today. The yard have been in woeful form for a while now and it may pay to look elsewhere.

8 PELOTON – Improved to finish second of ten last time out over a mile at Windsor. She remains on the same mark today although she hails from another yard that have been in poor form of late (without a winner from their last 10 runners in the past fortnight). This extra distance is questionable having shown plenty of speed and others make far more appeal today. Stall 10 is far from ideal.

9 PRIZE DIVA – Finished a long way behind Carol when the pair met last time out and whilst she’s better off at the weights today, it would be a surprise to see her reverse the form. She weakened badly late on last time out and that’s a surprise given she’s by Motivator and the handicapper has dropped her 3lbs in the handicap as a result. She could improve for the first-time cheekpieces but she’s risky in this.

10 JUNOESQUE – Has been fairly inconsistent in five career starts to date. She was only beaten 4 3/4 lengths in a fair maiden at Ascot in July but she’s been beaten a long way since and she didn’t fare much better in a classified stakes race last time out. She’s left on the same mark today and she’s yard to fancy in this for a yard with just one winner from their last 12 runners. Opposed today.
