Wednesday’s race of the day: Fortune Stakes preview and a free 9/2 tip

Wednesday’s racing has a couple of extra treats for us, in the shape of Listed action from both Sandown and Yarmouth. The £45,000 Pequod 20 Years Of Seaworthiness Fortune Stakes is the one that draws the eye so we’ve previewed the race of the day at Sandown. We’ve also provided a free 9/2 tip which also happens to be our Nap of the day. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

3.23 Sandown

1. Beshtani

Finished a close up fifth in Group 2 company when last seen and has to have a good chance now down in grade.

2. Cash

A player on his very best form but could be vulnerable over this trip and others make more appeal.

3. Checkandchallenge

The ratings suggest he’s the best horse in the race but his form has been disappointing so far this season and he looks very opposable.

4. Crown Board

Outsider of the field who has only had two starts and he’s probably best watched with that in mind.

5. Elnajmm

His latest run is probably better than the bare result suggests but even so, he looks vulnerable on his first start in Listed company.

6. Sean

Jamie Osborne’s runner is hard to fancy here but he did show some good form in Group races at Meydan over the winter.

7. Imperial Quarter

Wasn’t disgraced when third behind Tamfana in a Group 3 over course and distance last time out and a big run shouldn’t be ruled out.

8. Skellet

Ralph Beckett’s runner is the sole three-year-old in the field and her narrow second in a Chantilly Group 3 last time puts her right in the mix.

Free tip

Beshtani won three of his six starts in France and only just failed to give the winner 16lb when second in handicap company on debut for this yard. He was beaten less than two lengths when fifth in the Group 2 Summer Mile at Ascot and is therefore unlikely to be far away now dropped in grade.
