Thursday’s racing comes from six different venues. The Curragh, Tramore, Wincanton, and Carlisle are the afternoon meets, before Brighton (twilight) and Chelmsford take over in the evening. We’ll have horse racing tips for all the action, including a NAP of the Day and accumulator tip!
One interesting statistic that cropped up from Thursday’s racing comes from Tramore. Edward O’Grady has sent four runners to the venue this season, with three of them returning as winners. That has returned a level stakes profit of £8.00 and he has just one runner at Tramore on Thursday; find all the details below.
The runner in question is Downthecellar, and he’s unsurprisingly well-fancied to score. He’s better known as a chaser, completing a hat-trick at Tramore over the larger obstacles back in the summer. More recently, he landed a rated novice in great fashion, defeating better rated rivals in comfortable fashion.
He returned to hurdling at Wexford last time, still going well in the lead when running out on the turn into the straight. Although that’s worrying, he was still tanking in front and a return to Tramore is obviously in his favour, as he loves the venue.
His most recent handicap victory over fences came off a mark of 102, so he’s thrown in off his current hurdling rating of 87. After winning a rated novice subsequent to that handicap, his chase mark shot up to 124, which further illustrates the point of how appetising this rating is.
Mark Walsh takes over in the saddle and given that he’s 4/13 in the last two weeks, an in-form rider can only further his case. With the cheekpieces added, it would be extremely disappointing if he couldn’t pass this test with flying colours.
