Trainer who’s 6/13 at Musselburgh sends 1 runner on a 628-mile round trip 🚛

It’s a long way from Warwickshire up to Musselburgh for Olly Murphy. A 628-mile round trip is the order of the day, with only a single runner on the lorry taking the journey for a maiden hurdle. Murphy is 6/13 in his career at the track so when he sends one up to Scotland, he sends them with a strong chance.

There are also cards at Lingfield and Wolverhampton on Monday, the former in the afternoon before a floodlit fixture on the all-weather in the evening at the latter. We have horse racing tips for all three on the site.

12.15 Musselburgh – Every Race Live On Racing TV Maiden Hurdle

Mexican Boy is the Murphy runner in question in the opening race of the day. He is yet to get his head in front but has generally been progressive in a pair of bumpers and two hurdles. Behind a solid recruit in Knappers Hill in the first of those hurdles, he progressed for the step up to this trip for the first time when last in action.

He was a little too keen for his own good on that occasion but travelled powerfully into the contest. He faded from the last but he was not knocked about when his chance had gone. This is a speed track which should suit him well, with a tongue strap added for the first time. That has the potential to improve his finishing effort if he can settle better early on.

A half-brother to staying chaser Mance Ryder, he should improve for a while yet. His dam is a half-sister to Grade 1 winner J’y Vole so there is plenty to like about his pedigree. Katie O’Farrell gets the mount, boasting a record of 4/11 when riding for Murphy in the past which is another point of intrigue.
