After the Classics on Friday and Saturday, punters could be forgiven for thinking it will be a quiet Sunday. Four meetings on offer, including Perth where there is a hugely interesting runner. There are also meetings at Goodwood, Listowel and Kilbeggan to get stuck into for our horse racing tips.
The bumper at Perth is one of the more interesting races of the day. Robert Widger sends his first runner to these shores from his Waterford base, a round trip of 910 miles. It’s a bumper with just £2,723 to the winner so that makes things even more interesting.
Widger is more than capable, his handling of Treacysenniscorthy, taking him from a 99 rated handicapper to a mark forty pounds higher is testament to that. Daryl Jacob booked looks a clear sign of intent from the yard so who is the runner to look out for at Perth?

5.25 Perth – bet365 Open National Hunt Flat Race
Hemlock is the horse in question, making his first start for Widger. Trained by Willie Mullins for his first two starts, sent off favourite on his debut, he was then well thought of enough to take his chance at the Punchestown Festival in a race that tends to work out well.
His dam is a half-sister to smart staying chasers Massini’s Maguire and Twirling Magnet so there is enough in the pedigree to think he is going to make up into a decent type. Five of the last nine winners of this bumper have been Irish trained so it’s a race with previous for raiders. He needs to step up on his first two starts but given that he has been chosen as the first ever British runner for this yard, he needs massive respect.
