Sean Bowen bidding for third win in four years

Sean Bowen has won two of the last three runnings of the 2m handicap hurdle and Trust House (4.18 Perth) looks well equipped to make it three from four. He built on his return effort with an easy win at Market Rasen in March before following up at Ffos Las when last seen and he is on an upward trajectory at present.

Irish raiders at York

Ranting Duke represents the Diego Dias yard and is a huge price in the opening 6f novice (1.45). The son of Zoustar completely missed the break on his 5f debut at Dundalk so he can’t be too harshly judged on that effort.

In the Group 2 Middleton Fillies’ Stakes (3.30), Red Letter will take her chance for Ger Lyons. A Listed winner at Killarney last summer, she was a nice winner of the Group 3 Snow Fairy Stakes at the Curragh the following month. She will have to improve to win this, though.

Aidan O’Brien throws two darts at the Dante (4.05), a race he hasn’t won since 2010. Ryan Moore has opted to ride Christmas Day over Action but both have solid claims if they put their best foot forward.

Ed Bethell seeking third Hambleton handicap win

Point Lynas won the Hambleton handicap (2.55 York) in 2024 and trainer Ed Bethell also won it last year with Old Cock. Point Lynas carries top weight this year. He failed to win last season and his best effort was second in the Summer Mile at Ascot. He has to be right at his best to win this off his weight.

Can See The Fire back up last years demolition job?

See The Fire (3.30 York) won the Middleton Stakes by a whopping 12 lengths last year and many would argue it’s a surprise she is odds-on to win the race again. She will be a tough nut to crack.
